7 Days of Pasta Challenge - Day 6

Chocolate Pasta

Ingredients

For the dough:

300g plain flour

60g cocoa powder

3 large eggs

A little bit of water if needed

1/2 tbsp salt

40g butter

For the chocolate sauce:

50-100ml heavy cream

25-50g dark chocolate

Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

Icing sugar for dusting

Method

Pour the flour onto a clean surface. Add the cocoa powder and mix well. Make a hole in the middle of the flour and crack the eggs into it. Sometimes you may need to add a little extra water – it depends how big the eggs are. With a fork, stir the eggs and cocoa powder together and slowly incorporate the flour into the mixture (see video). Once it gets too thick to stir, roll up your sleeves and dig in. Knead the mixture until it makes a smooth dough.

This is our 6th dough so by now we are professional at making dough!.

Roll it out by hand or put into a pasta shaper and cut into noodles. Bring a pan of water to the boil and add the pasta. Cook for 1-2 minutes. It won’t need long as the pasta is very thin and can overcook. Melt the butter and put the pasta in the hot butter. Toss it until all the pasta is covered. Dish up the pasta.

For the sauce, warm up a bit of cream in a pan and melt the dark chocolate. Leave it to melt then, while it is hot, pour on top of the pasta. This dish is not very sweet, so if you prefer it sweeter you can use Nutella sauce as an alternative. Enjoy!
